This hoarding exhibition displays 10 curated scenes from Yip Yew Chong’s 60-metre canvas painting, "I Paint my Singapore."

Each scene offers a window into the developmental journey of Singapore’s coastal and civic districts throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Reflecting both the artist’s personal experiences and Singapore’s metamorphosis from rural kampongs to a modern garden city, these scenes serve as a poignant reflection of collective memories and identify of Singapore.

Through Yip Yew Chong’s artistic lens, viewers are invited to explore not only the artist’s impressions but also engage with the shared heritage from the past, while contemplating the future of the nation.

Yip Yew Chong’s practice encompasses murals, canvas paintings, and digital art. Yip's work intricately tell stories of local life from a bygone era, weaving a vivid and vibrant tapestry into Singapore’s urban fabric.

After a 25-year career as an accountant, Yip embarked on a transformative journey into the realm of art, transitioning to a full-time artist in 2018. Since then, Yip has painted over 80 murals in Singapore and the region, and held 3 solo exhibitions.

Among his most notable works is a canvas painting titled "I Paint my Singapore". Unveiled to the public in December 2023, this piece has deeply resonated with audiences, evoking heartfelt responses, and prompting refelction on Singapore's cultural heritage and collective identity.
